Christmas is almost here and we would like to wish our loyal town centre shoppers a wonderful festive season and all the very best for 2022. Thank you for all your support throughout the year and for choosing to Love Local.

FREE Saturday Christmas Parking

in Selected Town Centre Council Car Parks

Thanks to HBBC and NWSL College, FREE parking is available for shoppers on Saturday, 18th December in the following town centre car parks (after 9.00am):

  • Lower Bond Street
  • Trinity West
  • Castle car park (off Hill Street)
  • North Warks and South Leics College car park (off Druid St)

Amazing Santa's Grotto

A magical Christmas treat from Saturday 18th to Wednesday 22nd December inclusive

Come along to Britannia Centre where in a large, previously empty, unit you will find our magical mini-wonderland to explore and have a visit with Santa. £2 per child and parents/under 3's are free. Each child receives a small gift.

Opening Times: 10.00am to 12.30pm & 1.00pm to 4.00pm Daily

No booking required and a queuing system will be in place.

Soap Box Derby Returns for 2022

Can you make a soap box?

Hinckley BID’s 11th Annual Soap Box Derby will take place on Sunday, 26th June 2022 on Castle Street.

This is one of the highlights of our annual events calendar and amazing fun for all the family - spectators and participants alike.

Utilising the natural hill on Castle Street for individual ‘time-trial’ performances, up to 40 Soap Box teams will compete to win trophies and demonstrate why their soap box is the best!

This year we are once again including the option of a JUMP – so the driver can choose whether to take a chicane, or risk taking the jump instead! Both can prove quite tricky!

So, time to get your creative heads on! All sizes and shapes are welcome and the funnier, the better!

Community Safety

CSP Newsletter and Useful Safety Guidance

We love to spread Christmas cheer, but at this time of year we also need to alert you to the increased threat of burglaries and other criminal activity.

Our friends at the Community Safety Partnership and the Police have asked us to highlight a few key messages:

  • When you are not at home, it is a good idea to leave some lights on as a deterrent to burglars
  • Do no leave car keys or valuables in clear sight or near your front door/windows
  • Beware of bogus callers (see LCC Trading Standards Advice attached)
  • Car exhausts/catalytic converters are a big target right now, so do what you can to protect your vehicle
  • E-scooters are increasing in popularity, but it is important to understand where these can be legally used. Please click on Leicestershire Neighbourhood Watch for current information on E-scooter usage.

What's On Guide

Our 2021 events schedule draws to a close with our wonderful Santa's Grotto, but rest assured, we have a fantastic events schedule in the pipeline for 2022, including the return of our spectacular Soap Box Derby which will take place at the end of June!
