Incredibly, it will soon be time for our 13th Annual Soapbox Derby, one of the biggest and most popular events on our Hinckley town centre calendar. Please come and join us for what promises to be a fantastic day of soapbox racing!
This is an entirely FREE event for the public, hosted by Hinckley BID with support from town centre businesses. This year, we are pleased to welcome TMS Motor Group as an event sponsor.
It is a great family day out which appeals to all ages. Racing starts promptly at 11.00am with huge crowds lining both sides of the Castle Street course. After a big push-off from the start grid, soapboxes make individual time trial runs down the hill, gathering pace, before the driver makes the decision to take a tricky chicane or jump obstacle. Very exciting to watch!
We are welcoming Senior Teams (age 18+) and Junior Teams (12 to 17 years), with entries from Scout groups, local businesses and a lot of committed soapbox enthusiasts who join us year after year. There are 31 teams registered to date and we are guaranteed to see a range of incredible soapboxes, some of which might raise an eyebrow, we are told!
