It's Back! Soapbox Derby 2024
|
There's Still Time to Enter a Team!
|
Without doubt, Soapbox Derby is one of the most exciting days on our Hinckley events calendar!
Soapbox entries through the years have varied hugely in performance and style and we always love to see the ingenuity and creativity that abounds. The wackier, the better!
If you are a bit of an adrenaline junkie and fancy a challenge, this is your opportunity! It really is great fun freewheeling down the Castle Street hill, with each driver making a split decision about which obstacle to take half way down the course, either the jump or chicane. Not surprisingly, they opt for the one they think will get them to the finish line fastest!
Soapboxes can cost as much or as little to build as you choose and entry is open to everyone - individuals, family/friendship or workplace teams. All you need to do is adhere to the simple Rules and Regulations which are printed in our Soapbox Derby 2024 Race Pack (attached below).
There is limited availability of spaces, so book your entry today to avoid disappointment. Just £25 per team.

New Flexible Workspace Solution Locally
|
Atkins Building can provide space with flexibility
|
The Atkins Building in Hinckley is launching a new flexible workspace solution, ‘Co-working’, suitable for a range of work styles.
This could appeal to a freelancer waiting for Wi-Fi installation at home or a home worker who has the need for an office, but only part time. A start-up business wanting to work in a more professional environment, or a lone worker just needing a change of scene. The new flexible workspace can offer space from a daily rate of just £23.00 plus VAT and offers access to full office facilities.
Atkins Building’s Co-working space is a warm and welcoming open plan office that's designed to accommodate people from different businesses to undertake their work in a comfortable and professional setting. This service has been created in response to the increase in flexible and hybrid working patterns. A desk is available to book in half day and full day options.
The space and the facilities will be available to view at a launch event on Wednesday 17 April from 9.30am to 11pm. There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the Leicestershire Business Advice Service https://web.exemplas.com/lbas.
If you wish to attend the launch or would like more information, please email info@atkinsbuilding.co.uk
Atkins Building is a refurbished Victorian hosiery factory located in Hinckley Town centre with excellent public transport links and nearby car parking which includes EV charging options. Atkins Building has a spacious reception where you can meet colleagues and guests, get fresh food and Fair-Trade coffee from the Hansom Café, view exhibitions in the art gallery plus a variety of individual meeting rooms are available for hire.
Some of the benefits to using the Co-Working facility at Atkins Building include:
- Improved work-life balance
- Increased productivity and creativity
- Networking opportunities
- Combat loneliness and isolation
- Access to resources and amenities
- Flexible and cost effective
Rebecca Wilbur, Business Centre Officer said: “The space we have available will prove ideal for a wide range of businesses, lone workers, start-ups, or individuals who just fancy a change from the spare bedroom or kitchen table. We offer a range of flexible options and I hope that anybody interested in the facilities will come and take a tour on 17 April and see what the Atkins can offer.”
A day at Atkins Building Co-working (08:30-17:00) costs £27.60 (£23+VAT) and this includes a large desk, office chair, laptop riser, mouse, mouse mat, Wi-Fi, access to a printer and photocopier, break out areas, kitchen and bathroom facilities. There is also a coffee inclusion version where you can order two hot drinks of your choice from the onsite Hansom Café for £34.80 (£29+VAT).
