Hinckley BID's Annual Pancake Race

Shrove Tuesday, 1st March 2022

We're back with a bang this year.... or is it a flip?!

Children and adults, friends, family or businesses, we welcome you all to participate in this fun filled, fast and furious comic spectacle that is our annual Pancake Race.

FREE to enter and business teams are welcome to promote their company/services on branded costumes. Fancy Dress is optional and positively encouraged!

It only takes an hour from start to finish, and there will be a neck medal for every entrant on the day, with a trophy award to the heat winner of the Junior and Senior categories. There will also be an award for the 'funniest' costume.

The evenings may be dark and the weather cold, but what better time to enjoy some great comedy to lift the spirits!

Concordia Theatre is busy getting ready for their amazing production of the classic comedy, 'Porridge'. This is a show with a difference with lots of surprises popping up and even potential for some audience participation! (Full details on the poster attached below).

This is a theatre fundraising production, so you will be supporting your local theatre through the most difficult of times following Covid.

Soap Box Derby is back!

Trophies for the fastest Junior and Senior soap boxes - time to get creative!

This is one of the highlights of our annual events calendar and amazing fun for all the family - spectators and participants alike. We are very excited to be back for 2022!

If you are creative and competitive, like speed and enjoy a challenge, then this is definitely for you. Entry places are limited so please email info@hinckleybid.co.uk to register your interest and to receive a copy of our Race Pack as soon as it is available.

For those who are unfamiliar with Soap Box Derby - utilising the natural hill on Castle Street for individual ‘time-trial’ performances, up to 40 Soap Box teams will compete to win trophies and demonstrate soap box design ingenuity and driving skill at its best!

This year we are once again including the option of a JUMP – so the driver can choose whether to take a chicane, or risk taking the jump instead! Both can prove quite tricky and test the machine to its limits - but it loads of fun!

So, time to get your creative heads on! All sizes and shapes are welcome and the funnier, the better!
