NWSLC - Art Exhibition
|
Student work on display at Atkins Gallery
|
Creative arts students at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s Hinckley Campus have mounted an exhibition based on the theme of ‘Respect for the Environment’. While this is designed to help them practice competition skills, it is also a wonderful opportunity for us to enjoy work from budding artists and appreciate the creativity of our young local talent.
Visitors to the exhibition, due to run until Friday 3 February 2023 at the Atkins Building in Hinckley, will be able to vote for their favourite artworks and the winning students will be rewarded with prizes.
The Creative Arts teaching team will mount their own exhibition, also at the Atkins Building, 13-24 February 2023 on the theme of ‘Emotional Toast’.

Pickpockets - Stay Alert!
|
Some words of warning from our local Police beat team
|
Our friendly Hinckley Town Beat Team Officers would like to remind people working in or visiting Hinckley to take good care of their belongings. They say:
Unfortunately, pickpockets do operate in the town centre and sadly target older and more vulnerable victims.
Thieves will often work in groups and will try and crowd around the victim and distract them. If you feel you are being crowded, please tell a shop assistant or get the attention of another person.
Please consider these useful tips when out:
DO
- Do keep purses and bags closed and secure at all times
- Do carry bags in front of you or diagonally across your chest
- Do return cards to your purse or wallet quickly and zip it up or button it
- Do use a purse that’s difficult to open. One that zips or snaps shut is best, and keep it closed
- Do use a money belt if you’re carrying a significant quantity of cash
- Do conceal your wallet in a buttoned or zipped pocket where it doesn’t bulge
- Do keep a list, separate from your wallet and phone, of contact numbers of family in case your phone is stolen
DON'T
- Don’t hang bags on the back of a chair
- Don’t leave anything on the back of a pushchair or wheelchair
Remember, having a zipped bag doesn’t mean you’re totally safe. Thieves have been known to walk behind victims while slowly unzipping bags. Yes, they can be that bold. So, never underestimate a pickpocket!
Please share these tips as a reminder with friends, family and especially the elderly and more vulnerable.
