Breaking all records since the first show in 2010, Hinckley BID’s 11th annual Motorshow on Sunday September 25th (delayed by a week out of respect to our late Queen) broke all records with 920+ exhibiting vehicles from 1934 up to todays latest Ferrari! The weather was kind and more than 12,000 people attended the show, many of them families. A jazz band played to the crowds in Market Place, there were various points of entertainment for the children, those who dressed in the era of their vehicle looked amazing (hippies, 1920’s, Army uniforms from past times, Top hats and tails – and so much more). We even had a genuine and rare DeLorean amongst the huge variety of English and Continental marques – some vehicles worth over £300,000 after being carefully restored by their proud owners….
Steve Wegerif, Director of Hinckley BID, expressed his sincere thanks to his colleagues and other volunteers who had worked so hard to make this Event such a success. In particular, he singled out Stuart Elliott and his Team of judges who had the unenviable task of deciding on who the 11 trophies should be awarded to, and also to Gary Bird, Jim Darlaston, John Coward and Cat Stilling + their teams for taking control of parking up so many vehicles.
Steve said ‘I have been proud to be part of the organisation of this event for all 11 years. The BID’s job is to bring footfall into Hinckley town centre to showcase all of our excellent shops, services and places to eat and drink. As my age is now similar to some of the more ancient vehicles being exhibited, our Events Manager Toni Scott has taken the reins and done a cracking job as witnessed by everyone yesterday - as did our Assistant BID Manager Martina Smullen, without whom we would both be lost. And finally to our Chairman Ian Daniels, who himself exhibits his own delightful classic Triumph Stag and who creates such an area of calm, we are more than lucky to have you to lead us’.
Judging was very difficult due to the quality of Entries – but Winners of the Trophies can be found in the document attached below, with photos from the day on our facebook page!
